Surah Sajdah

Surah Sajdah (4)

Quran

Surah Hajj

verse 47

And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count.

indicates that the length of a day with Allah is a thousand years.

___________________________________________________________

In Surah As Sajdah

verse 55

He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count.

In Surah Al- Ma’arij

verse 4

‘The angels and the Rooh [Jibreel] ascend to Him in a Day the measure whereof is fifty thousand years’

___________________________________________________________

There are two ways in which these ayaat may be reconciled:

The first was reported by Ibn Abi Haatim via Sammaak from ‘Ikrimah

from Ibn ‘Abbaas:

the day of a thousand years mentioned in Surah al-Hajj is one of the six days in which Allah created the heavens and the earth; the day of a thousand years mentioned in Surah al-Sajdah is the length of time it takes for a matter to go up to Allah; and the day of fifty thousand years is the Day of Resurrection.

The second (way of reconciling the ayaat) is that what is meant by all of them is the Day of Resurrection, and the difference in the time span depends on whether a person is a believer or a disbeliever. This is indicated by the ayaah (interpretation of the meaning):

‘Truly that Day will be a Hard Day, far from easy for the disbelievers.”

[al-Muddaththir 74:9-10].

These two suggestions were mentioned by the author of al-Itqaan. And Allaah knows best.”

Spend Gold and Silver

Sahih Muslim (15)

Abud-Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Shall I not inform you of the best of your actions which are the purest to your Rubb, which exalt you to the high ranks, which are more efficacious than spending gold and silver (in charity), and better for you than you should encounter your enemies whom you will smite their necks and they will smite your necks?” They said, “Certainly.” He (ﷺ) said, “Remembrance of Allah the Exalted.”

Seeking the Knowledge

Sahih Muslim (13)

Abud-Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “He who follows a path in quest of knowledge, Allah will make the path of Jannah easy to him. The angels lower their wings over the seeker of knowledge, being pleased with what he does. The inhabitants of the heavens and the earth and even the fish in the depth of the oceans seek forgiveness for him. The superiority of the learned man over the devout worshipper is like that of the full moon to the rest of the stars (i.e., in brightness). The learned are the heirs of the Prophets who bequeath neither dinar nor dirham but only that of knowledge; and he who acquires it, has in fact acquired an abundant portion.”

When Allah loves a slave

Sahih Muslim (11)
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “When Allah loves a slave, calls out Jibril and says: ‘I love so-and-so; so love him’. Then Jibril loves him. After that he (Jibril) announces to the inhabitants of heavens that Allah loves so- and-so; so love him; and the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels) also love him and then make people on earth love him”.

[Al- Bukhari and Muslim].

Another narration of Muslim is: Messenger of Allah, (ﷺ) said: “When Allah loves a slave, He calls Jibril (Gabriel) and says: ‘I love so-and-so; so love him.’ And then Jibril loves him. Then he (Jibril) announces in the heavens saying: Allah loves so-and-so; so love him; then the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels) also love him; and then people on earth love him. And when Allah hates a slave, He calls Jibril and says: ‘I hate so- and-so, so hate him.’ Then Jibril also hates him. He (Jibril) then announces amongst the inhabitants of heavens: ‘Verily, Allah hates so- and-so, so you also hate him.’ Thus they also start to hate him. Then he becomes the object of hatred on the earth also”.

[Al- Bukhari and Muslim].

Invoke Allah in Surreptitiously

Sahih Muslim (9)

Offering Salat (prayer) and invoking Allah in the last hours of the night (Tahajjud)

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) (p.b.u.h) said,

“Our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, comes every night down on the nearest Heaven to us when the last third of the night remains, saying:

“Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to invocation?

Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request?

Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?”

Sahih al-Bukhari 1145

Ramadan

hadith (19)

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“When the first night of Ramadan comes, the satans and mischievous jinns are chained up, and the gates of the Fire are closed, and none of its gates are opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and none of its gates are closed. And a caller cried out:
‘O seeker of good, proceed, O seeker of evil, stop.’ And Allah has necks (people) whom He frees (from the Fire), and that happens every day.”
Sunan Ibn Majah
Hadith 1642
In Another Narration from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“At every breaking of the fast Allah has people whom He frees (from the Fire), and that happens every night.”
Sunan Ibn Majah
Hadith 1643

Mentioning The Differences

hadith (17)

It was narrated that Abu Saeed Al-Khudri said:
“The Messenger of Allah said: Whoever fasts a day in the cause of Allah, Allah will separate his face (a distance of) seventy autumns from the fire in return for that day.”
